I moved my website from Neocities to GitLab Pages.

I made previously an article about Basic Website Resources. In particular I talked of Web hosting service:

But I omitted GitLab Pages to keep things simple.

As the name suggest GitHub and GitLab are platform to host code, using Git (software made by Linus Torvalds (creator of Linux)), and with their Pages service, to host static website.

This way, my source code is public:

Neocities

I already presented Neocities, but to keep it short, it is more of a social network of website, rather than simply a web hosting service, so in proportion there is more creative websites.

But in terms of technicality, it was less in interesting. Here is the pages I used for technical purposes:

But as said, it is still relevant as a social network and to discover creative work.

GitLab Pages

One the reason I did this switch, is to be able to work with custom domain name. If I did work with custom domain name with Neocities, it was limited.

To justify my choice of GitLab over GitHub, I will quote myself (once again):

Even if the GitHub host several major open source projects, GitHub itself is not open source.
